Can
you add YOUR name this year???

On behalf of the Track Booster Club I want to welcome you to track and
field at Milton. We are excited about the upcoming season. We have two
new head coaches this year, Mr. Pete DeWeese and Mr. Lonnie Estes, and
they are busy planning an exciting meet schedule for our team.
Let me take a moment to introduce our organization to you. The Milton Track
Booster Club is an all-volunteer organization and exists to provide support
to our coaches and athletes. Our goals as an organization include, but
are not limited to the following:
• to promote and publicize Milton High School Athletics
• to provide a rewarding experience and opportunities for athletic excellence for all participants
• to develop and enhance a sense of pride and tradition
• to encourage participation in booster club activities
• to provide the necessary resources to supply our program with the highest quality training and equipment
• to develop short and long-range financial plans consistent with and supportive of the overall objectives determined by the team coaches and the Milton High School Athletic Department
In order to accomplish all this we depend on the support of parents.
Your time and talents are absolutely necessary for our
program to continue to
grow and succeed. We hope you will choose to volunteer
in one capacity or another. Your involvement with the activities
of the booster club
is very important. Every family is needed.
The financial support provided by the booster club is
extremely important. As with many high school programs,
funding by
Fulton County is limited.
We supplement coaching salaries and equipment purchases,
pay for coaching certifications, snacks for our athletes
at meets,
medals
for our home
meets, fees for the timing company at home meets, year-end
awards and senior gifts,
and our web service, just to name a few. Our major source
of income are the team expenses paid by each athlete.
Team expenses
are assessed
by
dividing the projected expenses for the season by the
number of participating athletes.
We’re working very hard to keep track and field
affordable for everyone. Compared to other sports, track
and field is
one of the best
bargains in
terms of costs to participate.
Our website, www.miltontrack.org, is a valuable tool for
information. All communications from the booster club will
be sent via e-mail.
We have an
e-mail distribution list and it is your responsibility
to have your name added to that list. To ensure that announcements
make it into
your inbox,
add miltontrackandfield@yahoo.com to your contacts/address
book.
Please be assured that we have the highest regard for your
privacy. We will not sell your e-mail or any other private
information.
We are in the process of compiling a FAQ section on our
website. Please refer to it before contacting the coaches
or booster club
officers. The
answer(s) to your question(s) may very well be found there.
All participating athletes must have a completed physical
that is current through May 16, 2009 (the ending date of
the Georgia State
Championships).
Physicals are valid for one year from the date of the exam.
The examining physician must use the mandatory Physical
Examination Form. Additionally,
we must have the Fulton County Application for Participation
in Interscholastic Athletics and Verification of Substitute
Insurance. Both forms can
be downloaded from our website.
Participation is not allowed until both forms are received
by our registrar (not the coaches!). Your daughter/son
cannot attend any
practice sessions
until these forms have been turned in. Please make sure
they are received before the practice starting dates.
Practice for boys begins on January 26, 2009.
Practice for girls begins on February 2, 2009.
Returning athletes can re-use their uniforms from last year. All new athletes will have to purchase a uniform and sweat pants/sweat shirt. Uniforms will be distributed before the first meet and must be paid in full at that time. No money = no uniform = no meet participation.
Money for team expenses will be handled by the booster club treasurer only. The coaches will not accept any checks or handle any money for team expenses, period. Please abide by this rule. Make sure that your checks have been received by February 20, 2009. No money received means your athlete will not be able to participate in practices and meets after February 20th.
Meet participation will be decided by the coaches. Payment of team expenses does not entitle your athlete to be posted at a meet.
Athletes representing the Milton Track and Field team are expected to conform to all rules for Milton High School and Fulton County regarding conduct, as well as the Track Attendance Policy. If your athlete is dismissed from the team within the first month of practice we will retain an administrative fee of $75 from the team expenses. After March 2, 2009 no refunds will be given.
We are looking forward to a successful season. Please check our website often for updates. Last but not least, come to the meets, cheer on our athletes and get to know the other parents!
Sincerely.
